Whether we had the good fortune of a loving mother or were not so lucky, one thing that can be said for even those mothers who should perhaps not have taken up that mantel. At least they gave us the gift of life and sacrificed their own health and bodies to bring us into the world. And of course for those who are mothers via the adoption process, they have given those children the gift of being wanted, loved and nurtured, which are the greatest gifts anyone can give.
