Random Thoughts..

I hope I didn’t offend Pat. It wasn’t her I was frustrated with just the whole guru thing. As Hope and a Plan mentioned we live in a very shallow culture. I know the generation before mine, the Pluto in Leo or “Me Generation,” often meant well with their spiritual seeking and did push the envelope and change many things for the better however there is a tendency toward the lemming mentality there. In the generation that followed, Pluto in Virgo or anyone born from 1957 – about 1970/71, there is a an almost hypercritical evaluation and deconstruction of everything often to the point where things break down into conflict. For those born during the Uranus/Pluto conjunction which hit from about 1962-1968 we have a tendency to be of the belief that we are so very different no one in the universe is like us, so much so we don’t identify ourselves as being part of a generation. My husband illustrated this the other day when he, in amazement, showed me how Amazon had (based on his past buying trends) managed to figure out he liked some obscure things like Naked Lunch, Grizzly Bear, a certain kind of motorcycle boot and a bunch of seemingly unrelated things. I just laughed. He’d finally had the epiphany that he was a type, no matter how quirky and strange there were others like him.

Now onto California and our mentally challenged governator. I have to say Arnold Schwarzenegger and George W. Bush had me convinced for awhile that democracy wasn’t the best form of government for the simple reason that if you have an uniformed, uneducated, apathetic and unthoughtful sheeplike electorate then people are manipulated into voting for things that go against their best interest and to put it kindly make some very poor choices in the voting booth. The movement to oust former Governor Gray Davis in liu of the governator was in my mind tantamount to another Republican coo. Unfortunately, the voters of California who either worship celebrity or think the idea of an ex-playgirl playmate, pot smoking, Austrian born mega star known for playing a robot was ironic and funny were in the majority and the Republican smear campaign blaming Gray Davis for the energy crisis (which of course turned out later to be a Bush administration gotcha fist job) all worked to get the Republicans in power here so they could once again mess up the economy BIG TIME!

California was ranked the 5th largest economy in the world back then after France. Now I think it’s 8th and falling. Mr. Governator wants to cut education (which is already screwed here because of Dear old leader Reagan’s propl 13 legacy) get rid of police and let a bunch of violent criminals out onto the streets, get rid of the poison control center for children. Sound good? Oh, yeah and besides increasing class size not pay teachers and school administrators or anyone in CA government as much. What a plan. How about raising taxes on douche bags that make over 10 million dollars a picture? Hmmm, let’s see I think we should try that. I’m sorry but why is that the most inane jobs such as acting are the highest paid? And those that actually add to the welfare of others are underpaid? Oh, we’re Americans, I almost forgot. How idiotic are we?

Best wishes and many blessings,

Denise

I know I’m cranky. I’m sick! So please excuse the crumedgeoneous.

Twit(ter) and Swine Flu

I didn’t mean to sound to cavalier about the swine flu. People have died from it. I just listened to an NPR broadcast about Mexico City shutting down all its schools until May 6 because of the outbreak. I’m glad everyone is taking this seriously, however, because they are it’s been my intuition all along that this will be contained pretty well. I have heard that it jumps species so this was part of the freak out over this particular flu. With all the trouble in Mexico I don’t see why anyone would want to vacation there for the time being anyway, so it seems they are probably more isolated than they would have been 10 years ago and this will also help contain the epidemic, although it has been found in New York, CA, Scotland and I think there was a case found in Spain. Again though every time I concentrate on it I don’t get any crazy feeling.

Although I have been feeling there is something brewing behind the scenes and once I figure it out I’ll let everyone know. I’ve had some weird dreams and odd visions but haven’t quite figured them out yet. I get the sense that what I’m picking up is more long term, over the next 5-10 years. To me the scariest news I’ve heard in a long time was the admission by scientists that global warming is exponentially worse than any model they have come up with. There is talk that the ice caps will be gone in as little as a decade, some think even 5 years, some even sooner. I heard one scientist say that there was a chance most Antarctica would be melted by this summer but that seems a bit early, probably not by as much as we’d like to think though. We are really poised here for a serious extinction level event and it’s not even newsworthy. Sometimes things are so scary we can’t even look at them. I’m thinking I need to get more involved in the politics of global warming. If anyone knows of a good, effective organization to participate in post it on the blog.

OK, and I”m glad some people like twitter. Perhaps it works under certain conditions. Unfortunately, every time I read anyone I knows stream, it makes no sense to me. They are either talking about something completely out of context that perhaps they’ve been tweeting about for days or it’s about something extremely banal. I really hate small talk. And at least in my estimation twitter is like global small talk. But then again I live in LA so perhaps if your friends are all academics and are insanely brilliant it might be interesting. My friends are all artist/writer/comedians and actors so they have a tendency to ramble about stuff that I would get them not to talk about in a normal conversation. I have a way of deflecting boring small talk, because I have about as much tolerance for it as I do flees. But perhaps this is just my problem.

Many blessings to all you good people,

Denise

PS : The celebrities who twitter (at least the people I know who fall under that category) are actually really twittering. Why? I guess because most of them like exposure and attention. The more the better, think the character of Jenna on 30 Rock and Tracy Morgan’s character. They really are kind of typical of the actor type personality. Not that there aren’t brilliant, deep and intense actors out there, just not as many as they (the actors) would like you to believe.

Readers, Horary Chart Offer and SAG? Huh?

Hi everyone,

I meant to answer Chris’s question about a possible SAG strike and also I had a reader ask me more info about Gold and commercial real estate, all worthy questions which I will get to over the weekend. I really hope SAG is not that stupid. Why can’t they just come up with a temporary agreement and deal with the Internet stuff in a couple of years when it actually starts to make money. There is no money in the Internet right now and what little there maybe for actors (in terms of advertisers) is so minuscule it’s just ridiculous, especially with the economy the way that it is and the writer’s strike we had here.

I understand the importance of standing on ideals and being pro-union, but we are headed for some seriously tough times and in my humble opinion, actors are the most overpaid profession of all professions. When someone can live for 5 years off of making one commercial that shot for 2 days, hey, I don’t feel all that much compassion for the 2 cents the person might potentially get from a google ad. In this case it’s not the right timing to throw another wrench in the struggling economy here in SoCal for something that is so minor, and can be put off for the time being. That’s my take on it. I will do a reading though tomorrow to see if the union will go that route. And before anyone gets their panties in a bunch about actors being overpaid, let me just say, really they are. I have a lot of actor friends and clients and my husband has done some acting. Seriously, they get paid more to do a TV show then the person who created the show gets. Doesn’t that seem backwards? Yes. I actually know of one situation (and I’m sure it’s happened more than once) where an actor on a show got the head writer/creator of the show replaced. The show then proceeded to tank and was cancelled. Hello, karma! But anyway, a strike right now is not a good idea. Sooooo not a good idea.

I just want to say that we really have to get involved again in politics as the unfortunate stuff in the US chart mentioned in previous posts is about to come down. We started seeing the transit at the end of January and we are in it right now, but it hits big in March. So unless we pressure congress to do something about getting the economy back on track we seriously might be headed for a major depression. As I stated Obama is the guy for the job and he has been doing everything to focus on this but he needs our support and support from congress. So please bug the crap out of your local congress-people. Seriously. Or we are so up s*it creek and we don’t want to go there when we don’t have to.

I’m actually starting to believe my own wild conspiracy theory that the Republicans want to turn the US into a 3rd world country so they can have slave labor here at home. I really think they want there to be a huge gulf between rich and poor and are willing to do just about anything to make that happen. So us middle class people better start fighting or we’ll end up on the soup line.

Please urge all your friends, copy and paste the previous post with all the info that a fellow reader shared with us and do an e-mail blitz. Things are unfortunately going the way I predicted them to go. You know in this case I really didn’t want to be right!

Have a great weekend and keep posting questions. And I wanted to put an offer out there for those interested in a particular financial situation to send an e-mail with a specific question so I can run a horary chart and do a post dissecting it for everyone. Of course the issue should be something that will benefit more than just you personally, something that you and other people can benefit from knowing.

Best wishes,

Denise
