The Pollster Interview

I talked to the inspector at our local polling place and according to him what happened to my husband and I has been happening all over LA and it is a CRIME. It involves FORGING a signature in order to get an “absentee ballot.” Luckily. I had mine and I surrendered it so I could vote as if the whole thing hadn’t happened. However I wouldn’t have been able to if it hadn’t happened to my husband first and then I talked to someone at the state.

Most people don’t know the laws and don’t realize how nefarious this is. When I talked to Poll workers at my local polling place they all confirmed that the absentee phenomena had been happening “all day” and was rampant. They were calling the county to complain, but as I informed them I made this mistake in 2000 when I called the county as the head of the local polling place to report illegal electioneering pamphlets left on a table next to legit voter information. I guess this is why spirit said, “it’s going to be close – even though it shouldn’t be.” Here’s the “shouldn’t be” part. The Republicans have pulled out all the evil dirty tricks all over this country to try to win.

Well all I can say is this time – YOU’RE GOING DOWN! We have this thing called the internet. One percenters you can’t control everyone through your zombie making machine known as FOX NEWS. This is over. And YOUR SHENANIGANS are OVER!

Everyone who has experienced voter intimidation, voter fraud, voter suppression I URGE YOU TO RISE UP! We don’t want to live in a THEOCRATIC PLUTOCRACY! And unless you do your part to stop this constant onslaught of BS from the FASCIST party we’ll be in serious trouble.

I have long felt we are headed for a civil war here our only way of avoiding this fate is to rise up PEACEFULLY and PROSECUTE those who are TRYING TO TAKE OUR RIGHTS AWAY!

The USSR used to exist. It was a communist state. It’s now a democracy. Germany is now a Democracy and not a Nazi state. Well, if we aren’t careful we could go from being a Democracy to a Fascist state. I am not being hyperbolic. It is something I have withheld (because I didn’t want to freak people out) since I was 12 years old. Since the rebirth of the Republican party via Ronald Reagan.

This coup has been a long and well thought out cancer within our government and I absolutely believe we could lose our Democracy or have to fight for it.

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! DO NOT BE DISSUADED! DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

MAKE YOUR VOICE COUNT! We are AMERICANS! Fair play is what we stand for not stealing elections!

They will not win.

And let’s not be wimps about making them pay for what they are doing and have done. When this is all over go to your representatives, take to the streets, DEMAND INVESTIGATIONS and PROSECUTIONS for those who are trying to take OUR RIGHTS AWAY. If not for yourself do it for your CHILDREN and your GRANDCHILDREN. It’s time we made our sacrifice. We have to ENGAGE!

The Pollster Interview

My New Computer Is On It’s Way!

Long story short, my old laptop died and I had to order another one. I thought it would be here by today but it is sadly not. I must admit I’m having withdrawals. I have stolen my husband’s computer while he’s out running errands. According to the tracking status it will be here on the 21st of April. 

So again if you want a reading or are trying to contact me, I’ll get back to you next week and we will schedule something then. 

So sorry for the inconvenience. I think it’s something in my chart as all the electronics in my home have been freaking out. Our DVD player turned on full blast at 2 in the morning. My husband nearly had a heart attack, poor guy. You’d think after being married to a freak like me for 20 years he’d be used to it. But he still gets scared when weird stuff happens (and it happens a lot). He got up and checked the house several times just to make sure no one had snuck in and hit the DVD player remote? I guess. Luckily this sort of thing doesn’t bother me, hasn’t since I was a kid and made peace with it. It’s just how it will always be, no use getting worked up over it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will try to post. I’m so annoyed at the “tea baggers” don’t they use google? Really, you’d think they would have checked that before they flew their freak flag. I mean it’s almost too perfect. Sucking the proverbial balls of the wealthy, I guess that’s what it was about. Do you think the people at FOX knew this and thought it would be funny to humiliate the “peasants,” who do their bidding? Hmm, probably. It seems like some weird passive aggressive humiliation toward their minions. I mean, seriously, they had to know the slang, right? Someone at FOX news had to know. Or do all of them have their heads so far up their own butts that they were truly innocent of the reference? I think not. 

I feel bad for all those people who actually buy into the FOX news script. Clearly FOX news keeps moving the goal post so the Republicans can win at any cost no matter how much they damage the people they are using to do their dirty work. And those who actually believe in the paranoid, warped view of reality that they peddle are not bad or stupid people, they’ve just been seriously misguided. It’s my observation that FOX appeals to an older rural demographic, people who are often isolated and fearful (at least this is the demo in my husband’s family) they are genuinely good people, but their minds have been so inundated with BS for so long they don’t have any clear reference point to judge reality on.

It’s like calling white black for all of ones life and then expecting those people who believe black is white to look at a swatch of white paint and call it for what it is. Impossible.

I’ll go more into some observations when I have a chance. My husband is home and needs his computer back.

In Memory of Duane Jarvis & Our Broken Health Care System

On April 1st we learned a 51 year old friend, Duane Jarvis, died of colon cancer. I knew him for years before his girlfriend told me he had a terrible, painful case of scoliosis and had spent much of his life in bad health and in pain. Yet, he was a gentle and sweet spirit who relished life and took every opportunity to be and do what his heart dictated. About eighteen months ago he was diagnosed with colon cancer. We found this out because his ex-wife in an effort to help him sent out e-mails to all his friends to help him with his mounting medical bills.

Now this man was no slouch. He worked all his life as a professional musician. But of course being a musician is not like working at Starbucks, there are no 401k plans with health and dental added. Yet, he contributed to the lineage of art so many of us love. He was Lucinda Williams guitar player and co-wrote some songs with her, played with Frank Black, Dwight Yoakam, Dave Alvin, John Prine, Michelle Shocked and many more. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2009/03/duane-jarvis-in.html  http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2009/04/duane-jarvis-dies-at-51-la-roots-music-singersongwriter-and-guitarist.html  One could say he made his mark in the music world and on all who knew him. Yet because the life of an artist is feast or famine, up, down and a hustle, he did not have adequate health care. And I’m sure with his medical history even if he wanted to purchase it, it would have been out of his ability to pay for it.

His friends pitched in to help save his life. But he lost his battle at 1:30 in the morning at a hospice with an ocean view, with a smile on his face. He never complained about his pain, his disease or his troubles.

Not only was this poor man fighting a horrible, painful, aggressive form of cancer, he had to worry about the financial cost to him and the loved ones he knew he would leave behind. It has been proven that cancer is made worse by stress and chances are good that if he had good medical care to begin with his colon cancer never would have gotten so out of control, claiming his life at the early age of 51.

For all out there who still believe each one of us should think only of ourselves, and not come together as a nation and take care of each other through a universal healthcare system, I ask do you listen to music? Do you read books, enjoy art, read magazines, watch movies or enjoy any form of art as a release, a way to wind down to reflect on your life in a different way? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then I’d like to burst your illusion that those in the arts, even the people you on the outside would deem successful, have the financial stability to pay for their healthcare. Yet we all enjoy the fruits of their work. Art attunes us with our soul, the universe, God, our spirit and each other. It aides compassion, encourages self-reflection and produces self-discovery. It is actually one of the only things we as Americans still make and export. Yet for more than 90% of professional artists of all kinds there is no safety net in this country (unlike other democratic, civilized places.)

Republicans will belly ache about personal responsibility, yet it costs more for us to foot the bill for radical treatment that could have been avoided due to prevention then footing the bill for radical treatment when someone cannot afford their care. And is it fair that after years of giving to the world these individuals and their families should be punished with outrageous bills because they don’t work for a corporation that gives them health insurance?

Our health care system is absurd. There is no reason corporations should pay for our health care and there is no reason people who are self-employed, whether in the arts or otherwise, should be punished with outrageous costs they often opt to avoid.

More than half of all Americans walk this tight rope every day, hoping and praying they don’t get sick because they can’t afford a trip to the doctor’s office let alone several hundred dollars a month to an insurance company who will then, often fight to make sure they pay as little as possible.

And our life expectancy is at #50 of all countries in the world, ranking well below all western European countries, Canada, Hong Kong, South Korea and Bosnia for God’s sake.

How could it possibly be that we are the wealthiest country in the world and yet we let ten percent of our population control about 70 percent of the wealth? How can anyone who is not in that top echelon actually abide this? Why is it that any rational human being who works and pays taxes is not absolutely outraged by this? And how is it that the Republicans have managed to sell us on the idea that our system is fine?

Oh, yeah, the amplified fear of communism (aka more aptly dictatorship) which is actually just faked for the benefit of those who don’t understand why there would literally have to be a civil war in our country for a dictatorship to occur although we did get just about as close as we could with the Bush administration with their tactic of not counting the votes. According to the Limbaugh’s of the world it appears going back to the tax code of 1993 which was a 36 percent tax for the wealthy 10 percent to a 3 percent increase at 39 percent is a communist plot and of course so is universal health care. Hmm, I wonder who benefits most from that position. Oh, yeah the rich like Limbaugh. So he’s basically arguing from an entirely selfish point of view but trying to sell it as some sort of great American ideal when it’s nothing but more money for his private planes, which by the way he has, I know someone who was picked up and taken to his mansion in Florida by one of them. (Yes, I do have all kinds of friends.)

As I pointed out in an earlier post, communism is not the same as democratic socialism. In communist countries where they took Marx & Lennon’s ideas and ran with them they all ultimately turned into dictatorships because there was no accountability written into their ideology. The notion that a group of people would take everyone’s stuff and then divide it up among all the people evenly is insane and of course was an open invitation for graft, power hungry dictators, and greedy buerocrats. This was beyond psychologically naive, it was ideologically irrational, unsound and irresponsible. No checks and balances, no elections, hell, with all of Marx’s good intentions of lifting up the poor, he may as well have slapped a “rape the people of this country here” sticker on whatever flag adopted those ideas.

As out of whack as the US has gotten with capitalism swallowing our Democracy through corporate lobbyists and special tax laws and loopholes for the wealthy who could pay their way into the halls of power, we still have the power to pull back the reigns on this out of control buggy. And as a people we obviously have started yelling, “whoa!” by ousting the Republicans who have for the past 30 years aligned themselves with corporations, big money and lobbyists in a much more extreme way than Democrats. 

But Democrats have to start really pulling the reigns back before we leap off the mountain here. And let’s get real; they aren’t all that much better than Republicans. They take money from special interests, lobbyists and play all the same games. There is just a bigger percentage of people who identify with the working/middle class in the Democratic party but that’s been drifting away over the past 20 years as well. Which is why Obama was and is such a breath of fresh air. He actually seems like he has, can you believe it, IDEALS! It’s been a long time since we’ve seen that in a politician.

In my humble opinion this form of out of control corporate capitalism is at odds with Democracy at this point in our history. There are laws that need to be put into place, such as, if you are an American company, your product should have to be made in America. As a private citizen if I wanted to go live in France I couldn’t because I’m not French. I’m American. So why is it that corporations started by Americans and incorporated here, can make their crap in China, and then put an office in Guam and avoid paying American taxes? If you ask me this behavior is anti-American and one of the big dark roots of the economic disaster America is finding itself in. All that talk about how unemployment wasn’t that bad during the Bush administration was B.S. Besides changing the rules on how unemployment statistics were reported to only reporting people on the unemployment rolls in the unemployed statistics and cutting unemployment benefits back to 6 months, I hardly think working part-time at Wal-Mart for the minimum wage while being taught how to get food stamps and welfare by the corporate douche bags at Wal-Mart qualifies as the kind of good manufacturing jobs we shipped overseas. You know, the ones where people actually got paid a living wage, one they could feed and clothe their families on.

Another point I’d like to make here is the big mistake of the 1970s when women entered the work force and ERA was not passed. What people didn’t get was paying women 70 cents to the dollar a man would make for the same job drove down wages to the point where now both parents have to work in order to support a family.

It’s the very same principle Lou Dobbs complains about with the Mexicans driving down wages and taking away jobs because they are willing to work for less. Well, guess who relaxed the boarder laws for this very reason? The Reagan administration. Yes, that’s right folks. Allowing illegal people to stream across the boarders was a way to modernize indentured servitude. Again the goal was to make the rich, richer without any consideration of the other 90% of Americans. I’m in no way blaming the Mexican people who have come here in search of a better life. Our country is a hodge-podge of people from all over the world who came here for the very same reason. As a matter of fact the way the Mexican people have been exploited and then demonized is very much akin to what happened to the Irish who came here as indentured servants. Their pay was a ticket on a ship to America and they spent years as slaves until working this off only to find there was tremendous animosity for them because they were poor, and often in desperate straights.

Enough of my blabbing. I just want to point out that history repeats itself. It mutates and grows new claws, but there are patterns. Unfortunately, these facts are not pointed out or even noted for people to consider. I hope to at least try to illuminate those who have been seeing things through the lens of FOX news. By the way I want to note here that numerologicaly FOX = 666 for those who are of the Christian faith.

Can you tell me more about Philadelphia and PA regarding Obama?

OK, let’s ask the cards again about PA. Which came up as a maybe last time. Perhaps with the ad and a few days closer to the race the Collective Unconscious of PA will be decided.

Will Obama/Biden win the state of PA?

Well, the cards are now saying: No

I don’t completely understand it because it looks like there are tremendous economic problems in this state according to the cards. But there is also a lot of fear and distrust of Obama. This is going to be an upset. The tower card comes up reversed, never a good sign. I’ve been seeing this a lot in the cards. I saw this card come up a bunch before 9/11. In this case it looks like Palin has scared a lot of voters away from Obama. She is the centerpiece here of the reading, and it looks like she’s appealing to the fear and xenophobia. There will be some very strong supporters working to turn it around, but right now it looks like PA will not go to Obama. Even among Obama supporters there has been a walking away. I don’t know why. I could speculate, but I’m going to leave it here for now and maybe re-visit this issue in a few days. I’m very surprised to see this, I was just watching the news, and they predicted a solid win for Obama in PA. Odd.

I am so glad that you answered this post. For many reasons. I agree with you that we will see many radical hate individuals, groups, etc. in the coming years. Because people are really hurting due to the economy, losing jobs, and their life savings there are going to be people that are going to strike out in hate. Like that will solve anything. It’s sad. But, by explaining things as articulately as you do then maybe people can be forewarned and educated so that we maybe keep the violence to a minimum. We really all have to band together as a nation of citizen’s and look after one another no matter what our race or religion. And, thank you for bringing up the ‘Christian’ factor. I live in a state (NC) where one of our senators (R-Elizabeth Dole) has just released one of the most vile, horrific television ads against her democratic opponent Kay Hagan by calling her Godless and falsely fabricating an audiotape. It is honestly one of the filthiest ads I have ever seen televised. I intuitively feel (R) Elizabeth Dole will lose her seat in NC and wonder what your thoughts are? We have a funky ballot in our state this year which will probably cost Obama our state because so many people are choosing a straight ticket and are forgetting to select their Presidential choice at the top of the ballot (which coincides with your NC prediction) but I am hoping that Dole gets bumped out as she doesn’t deserve a place in politics.

Hi Wyntyr, I don’t live in NC, but I did see the ad on either Countdown with Keith Olbermann or the Rachel Maddow Show tonight. I had seen your post and had the news on in the background so I made sure to pay attention to that part of the broadcast. Wow, it was really disgusting. And kind of insane on top of everything else. I couldn’t really tell what the point was other then making Dole seem like a paranoid nut jobber. So let’s ask the cards your question.

Will Elizabeth Dole lose her senate seat to Kay Hagan?

The tarot says: Maybe. It’s going to be so tight. It may take a recount or something because it will be so close.

Something is up. I keep getting the tower card reversed in almost every reading. There could be serious voter fraud here or since it came up for a different state as well, some sort of horrible tragedy just before the election. I am going to look at the chart of the US to see what’s going on and try to figure it out. I will post about this later.

Denise, What should people who are in IRA’s do? If your not 59 1/5 you pay 10% to take your money out and then pay taxes on it at your current rate which could be an initial loss of 30% or more. Should we pull out of our IRA’s? Will we lose more or all if we don’t? If we stay in will it come back? When? Thank you

Hi Flyer:

You can take your money out of the stock market and put it into a FDIC insured CD for now. There won’t be any penalties because you’re just moving it. Since the economy is going to get worse before it gets better there is talk of allowing people to take out money early to help them get by (actually Obama already alluded to this) without any sort of penalty. I’m not sure how much that will be. The main thing is the stock market is going to really bottom out at the end of December and into January because Pluto will go over the first house. It will also oppose Uranus and will seem out of the blue. The market may appear to be getting better before this happens. And once Pluto goes over the market’s first house we will see a real tsunami, globally and very clearly. All that has been hidden will come out. It isn’t going to be pretty.

I personally took everything out of the market (it was just one money market IRA but still) and put it into a FDIC insured CD IRA the day before I started this blog, back around mid-September of this year because I kept hearing a voice tell me to get out. That was the inspiration for this blog. I wanted other people, especially those getting ready to retire to be able to save what they’ve worked their whole lives for. I felt if one person listened and was inspired to get out, and it saved them from going broke, it was worth it. I have no idea if anyone listened. I hope someone did.

But anyway, back to your question. The market is going to remain extremely volatile as this Pluto aspect keeps happening, it will go back and forth over the first house for the next few years. So I personally think it’s too risky to invest in for anyone who isn’t a mulit-billionaire. I’m sorry if you have lost money already. It makes the whole equation a lot more difficult. I hope that is not the case, but chances are you have. In that case I would use your intuition to pull out when the market is up enough for you to recover some or most of what you have lost. If you can pull out before late December, do it! Hope that helps some.

I want to ask you about “FOX news”, there is something not right with them, I look at all cable news shows and I find them offensive on all fronts.

You are right. They are run by Rupert Murdoch and have had many lawsuits slapped on them because it is basically just a front for Murdoch’s personal agenda of pushing for traditional Republican idealogy –more deregulation. I find it ironic that he bought the stock exchange this summer and according to what I have heard has lost a fortune because of it. Ironic, because it was the pushing of deregulation that has and will be the collapse of the market. But anyway. I was just saying to my husband tonight that I believe FOX news will shrivel up.

I asked the cards: Will FOX news go out of business in the next 4 years?
The answer: Yes.

Again, I got the tower card reversed. I am getting a little spooked here. There is something very bad around the pike. This is not good. I had a dream about driving through a tornado the other night, but I don’t think that was literal not that there won’t be a literal aspect to the dream. Perhaps there will be a real tornado that devastates the mid-west. I hope not. I think the dream was a warning that something very bad is brewing. Again I’m going to look into this and try to figure it out.

Hi Denise: Thanks so much for answering all our questions and easing our minds during this dirty election. I can’t believe all the nasty stuff going on. What’s the story with this Joe the Plummer? Is the McCain Campaign paying this guy to endorse him? His campaign is so dirty. I am so disgusted. Does Palin (and the republicans) really think she’s going to run for president in 2012? She’s more of a moron than I thought. I’m looking forward to seeing her get impeached (karma!!) Thanks!

He was just a regular semi-employed, uneducated idiot who took it upon himself to question Obama, but since then they’ve used him to say and do things that they can not. He’s a Republican and an opportunist. And so are they — they are relying on his stupidity to freak out crowds. But, it isn’t really working because he’s not coherent or articulate enough. It wasn’t a very wise move on their part. It just makes them look desperate, and even more erratic, and idiotic then they do already.

Good question. I thought it was really moving, but you never know how people are going to take this sort of thing so lets ask the cards.

Will the 30 minute Obama/Biden ad help them win over voters?

The cards say: No. Surprising to me. I have to ask a follow up.

Will the 30 minute ad hurt the Obama/Biden campaign?

The answer: Maybe.

I think it will hurt them as their will be a viscious spin from the Republicans about how he spent all this money. Already we’re seeing McCain question where he got all his money. It isn’t going to hurt him among his supporters, but it doesn’t look like it will have convinced those people who are racist of anything other then he has a lot of money. John McCain is going to work the whole angle of how he’s the poor underdog, big time, again playing to that xenophobic crowd. Sadly, these people don’t seem to have a heart to touch.

I must say this is the first time in my entire life that I’ve felt like I was voting for someone I want to be president instead of a lesser of two evils scenario. I felt that commercial was excellent, it made me cry (this could be partially hormonal, you ladies out there know what I’m talking about.) You could really feel the goodness, honor, caring, compassion and genuineness of Obama despite the slickness of the documentary style commercial. I felt it really did highlight how special Obama is. It reminded me of what people told me about voting for Kennedy. Many people felt this intense love for him, felt he represented a new hopeful future. I feel that way about Obama. He is the first politician I actually feel is involved in politics because he wants to make the world a better place instead of for his own personal gain. (Having said that I do like other people like Hillary and Bill and many others, but they don’t have the same purity of spirit Obama has.)

Denise, I just want you to know your site is helping me keep sane right now in these last few days before the election! I am checking the data sites like fivethirtyeight.com, which is wonderful but I felt that wasn’t taking into account things like Republican dirty tricks, which is why I went in search of more intuitive information. I think the cards might be right about Montana and Arizona, strange as it may seem, because it fits with the way the polls have been going lately. (I have family and friends in Montana and they all have voted early for Obama and some have even helped with the campaign–as a whole the state is conservative of course but they might like Obama’s outsider status). I am wondering what we can do about the hate crimes and xenophobia that may be brewing over the next few years. Are there preventive steps that can be taken before we see real trouble, and if so, what are they? Thanks.

I wonder that myself. Unfortunately, we live in a world where we take three steps forward and two back. There will always be entropy and order, shadow and light, good and bad. I’ve travelled all over the world and hatred is everywhere, it takes different forms. Prejudiced people in England don’t like the French. The Australians bigots don’t like the Aborigines. And of course everyone hates the Jews. That’s a pretty universal one. I could go on, but you know what I’m talking about. It’s just human nature. People seem to need a whipping boy. They seem to need someone to feel superior to. Of course not everyone has that problem. But we all have some prejudices taught to us as children and left unchecked they can take root and become ugly.

A friend of mine recently told me he found liberal racism more insidious because liberals try to hide their prejudice. Actually, being half Jewish I have to disagree with him as I would have been gassed if I lived in Germany in the 30s, and was often called a kike, even though my mom was Catholic.

Personally, I appreciate when people keep their anti-semitism to themselves. It’s what I call considerate. These liberal types are not the sort who will murder you. Some may not trust you immediately, but they at least give you a chance. And they try to be open. Even if they have to fight themselves to do it — this just makes me respect those people more! It means they are working against their shadow self by trying to be better people. That is honorable and about all we can expect from anyone.

Recognizing our prejudices, acknowledging them, and keeping them in check when they rear up is the best and only thing we can do. Eventually they disappear, the more we confront them. But this takes actual self-examination, and work. Many people find it easier to live in fear and feel better then whatever whipping boy their culture deems appropriate. 

The only answer is time and evolution. I believe the more evolved we become the more we will see were are all the same. But don’t look for utopia on that front any time soon.
