Stephen Hawking vs. Shirley MacLaine… aka Shirley MacLame

On behalf of everyone in the entire and actual spiritual community of non-pretentious douchebags I’d like to give Dr. Stephen Hawking our sincerest apologies for the idiotic, un-evolved interpretation of all the new age BS to hit best seller lists of the last 50 years.

Yes, while Ms. Shirley MacLaine does indeed represent the dangerously and moronically simple-minded interpretation of complicated ancient teachings, which were meant to be passed down to those wise enough to understand them, but has instead been exploited by quacks and half-baked gurus in an attempt to cash in on the public’s desire for easy and absolute answers to life’s big questions, Ms. MacLaine does not in fact represent anyone who is an actual and true spiritual seeker.

I want to clarify that anyone idiotic enough to believe that you simply visualize something and it appears before your eyes or that you “manifest” a disease so other people can take care of you, or that you, and you alone are in total control of every aspect of your life and the universe is an EGOMANIAC and not coming from a spiritual place – NOT AT ALL.

So to recap. Sorry to Professor Hawking for the stolen knowledge getting into the  heads of the daft and for him then having hear Ms. MacLaine repeat the watered down New Aged drivel to him as a lame and ridiculous accusation that she clearly was not even aware enough to know was an accusation.

SORRY FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS PROFESSOR HAWKING!

And sorry to Shirley MacLaine – it really has nothing to do with her. I’m sure she’s a wonderful person. This is a comment on how people misuse spiritual ideas by making them too literal and absolute.

Someone mentioned I should give the quote by SM in case some were unaware and upon my investigation found she also believes people who died in the Holocost may have been murderers in a past life. Oye, Vey! Let me clarify something here: WE ARE NOT TO JUDGE! In ancient times the Gods would descend to earth and test mortals by appearing as vagrants in need of help. In other words whatever someone is doing in this incarnation we have no idea why nor is it anything as literal and idiotic as you were murdered so now you are a murderer. I personally think that having a sheltered life of fame and fortune is a vacation life where you probably incur more karma then in nearly any other situation other than being evil. But that can’t be true across the board because the universe is complex and how we interact with it along with our free will and what our energetic patterns are are far too complex for anyone to dicipher other than God. And I really don’t think Shirley MacLaine is qualified here to make such pronouncements about karma. She’s just making a fool of herself and doing a huge disservice to alternative spiritual practices of all kinds.

“Outrage as Shirley MacLaine asks: Were Holocaust victims paying for sins in past lives? (and did ‘her friend’ Stephen Hawking bring his devastating disease on himself?)
She also suggests Stephen Hawking gave himself motor neurone disease
Holocaust victims may have been killers in previous incarnations, she says
Miss MacLaine once insisted that she lived on Atlantis in an earlier life…”

Predictions…

Unfortunately, a couple of weeks ago when I warned that the hillside in La Canada would slide and cause major damage; it happened last week (for those who are not local.) Luckily, no one was seriously injured which is a miracle. These poor people have had to evacuate a dozen times or more over the last 6 months and I’m sure are fatigued at having to do so. But it’s a good thing most people complied or things would have been much worse.

OK and the stock market, let’s just say I’ve been sticking to my original prediction that the market would take a double plunge and until late fall of 2010 the market would and will remain unstable. I know things are going that way again. So I hope those of you who have been looking at that part of the blog have kept in mind my advice to stay away from the whole mess for 2 years from the initial crash. Unless of course you are an expert in which case you are in an entirely different ball game and perhaps unable to stay out even if you want to.

More on karma coming this week…

Best wishes and many blessings…

Karma (part 3)

See Part 1 & 2… (continued)

So back to how I believe the Universe works and how “karma/darma” operates. The Universe is intelligence beyond our comprehension.  Ours is one of an infinite number of Universes and ours is one of an infinite number of dimensions. The best way to describe it is a circle within a circle within a circle forever smaller and larger than the circle we occupy. The Great Intelligence is infinite in every direction without beginning or end. It does not directly create, have judgment or take sides.

Actually, it is my belief that the Great Intelligence (I don’t want to call it God or Goddess because these terms are to anthropomorphic and loaded) is an energetic field in and part of all of creation – meaning each of us carries a piece of this animating force known in occult literature as the Higher Self or in religious vernacular, the soul.

So we literally have direct access to the Great Intelligence. All of us are equally connected, equally a part of this Great Intelligence as the Great Intelligence experiences/learns and grows through our processes of individuation which is also and equally a part of the Great Intelligences’ individuation and growth process – in other words we are one and the same, all of creation is directly linked to the Great Intelligence.

This being said, conversely the Great Intelligence is eternal, all-knowing, pure unconditional love. And I don’t mean love as an emotion, but love as a beingness or energetic glue of oneness which in our language is best expressed as love. The Great Intelligence is in a constant state of creative evolution and experiences all of Itself (of which I’m including you, I, and everything in the Everythingness) as an extension of itself. The Great Intelligence does not possess human emotions, motives or anything we can remotely wrap our heads around. This is where karma/darma comes in. Each Universe is set up with a set of rules and conditions that those who occupy that Universe must abide by. Our Universe is dualistic; we have light and dark, good and evil, black and white, man and woman and all that lay in-between these opposites.

In our Universe we can not know one side without experiencing the other. It is through contrast that we learn and evolve, for whatever reason this is the path our soul took in this lifetime to learn whatever it needed to in order to further our own individuation and add to the collective growth/knowledge and self-understanding of the Great Intelligence. Or, hey, maybe we just like it and find it fun and entertaining.

We know through science that time is an illusion and actually as quantum physics evolves (through string theory) the notion of parallel dimensions has become a primary component, without this string theory is rendered useless. Just by extrapolation of this theory (which dovetails well with ancient occult teachings) there are endless versions of our world where: you are born, you are not born, you decide to marry, not marry, have children, not have children, etc. And of course you are but one component of the endless possibilities and how all these things coalesce to make for the current universe we inhabit. In a sense karma helps to keep the balance among all these possibilities, without this law our souls could not make the connection between the light and dark or between action and reaction.

Karma in other words is the connective tissue between the call and the answer. I don’t believe it is punishment or favor. It is nothing more than a universal law set up so we may understand how our actions create and effect our world, loved ones, future trajectories, and really everything.

In eastern religions it is thought that we are on a wheel of Samsara or suffering. That our world is a kind of purgatory from which the ultimate goal is to ascend. I don’t believe that either. In this version of karma the idea is to reach a state of karma-lessness through meditation, and never causing injury (or help for that matter) to anything whether it be ant or human. The problem with this idea is (of which there are many in my opinion) is in order to live someone else has to die, be that plant, animal or even microbes that one breathes. There is no escaping the impact one will have by the very act of being alive. And hiding away on a mountain to meditate all night and day, eating only things without faces is a form of escapism (in my opinion, not that one doesn’t learn a lot about the soul and ones connection to the Great Intelligence this way, one does, and there is great wisdom to garner from a lifetime spent in meditation, but it won’t get anyone off the wheel).

I have this opinion because I would like nothing more than to spend all day in a tower meditating, having someone else put some bread and a bowl of soup at my door for me to “evolve” off the wheel of Samsara. But from my own memories I’ve spent many lifetimes doing just that, and I’m still here. And we have the example of the Dali Lama who keeps coming back despite leading countless ascetic hermetic lives. I’ve had to make a conscious effort not to hide away in this lifetime because I realized life was and is meant to be lived, mistakes are meant to be, and one moves off the wheel, or off this planet whenever one feels he or she is ready. It’s really that simple. What isn’t simple is our souls are far wiser than we are and hold us to a standard not easy to pass until we are truly ready and have exhausted all growth needed to move on

….In other words I believe we participate out of choice, a choice to grow and become greater than we started and whatever it is in the human experience that moves us forward, it is one of many experiences our soul will have in its eternal life. And we can choice to incarnate here or there or wherever. We have to play by the rules of the game we get into and that is that. Let’s face it hanging on the astral plane and reading the Akashic records all day would get pretty boring after awhile and one would hunger for a new way to experience the self just as the Great Intelligence hungers to grow more intelligent and to experience the self through all of Its many facets and pieces.

In part 4 I’ll talk about heaven and hell…

Best to all,

Denise

Karma (part 3)

Karma (part 2) new

So in my opinion karma/darma is one in a set of governing laws provided as boundaries/laws which evolved to move us and the Great Intelligence (of which we are one with) forward. Christ said, “the Kingdom of Heaven is within,” a quote often overlooked and in many ways misunderstood. What he meant isn’t you can find internal peace or happiness inside, but that the way to Heaven (or the Great Intelligence) is through the divine part of the self, the part that is at one with the Great Intelligence, the part that returns to the eternal oneness, the part that is itself eternal just as the Great Intelligence is, sometimes referred to as the soul, spirit, higher-self.

We are like innumerable sparks taken from the Great Intelligence, cast out by It on myriad of adventures to expand, grow and bring back greater knowledge of the Great Self.

I had a knowing in my early 20s that we were all Individual and all One at the same time. That the nature of our dualistic universe does not allow us to see beyond Ain Soph to Kether. These restrictions are placed on us so we will stay grounded in our agreed upon time and space, so we may interact in order to learn the lessons we feel we need to learn in order to grow.

As odd as it seems, it’s been my experience and belief that to a lesser or greater degree we are co-creators of our lives. I do not believe in The Secret‘s idea of this. It is far more complicated, delicate and random than the New Age has sold this idea. I do not believe people born into poverty or to terrible parents did awful things in their past lives. Chances are better that these are highly evolved souls who choose a more difficult path, one they knew would be fraught with sacrifice and hardship in order to learn far more than those who live an easy life.

I do not believe being wealthy, famous or born into those privileges are a blessing. Instead I believe they create distortion, a bubble of isolation, misunderstanding of the world around, often a lack of empathy, a feeling of aimlessness and self-absorption. Faust sold his soul to the devil for fame and fortune and indeed this metaphor is apt. In our narcissistic culture it seems everyone is all too ready to sell even their children soul (such as Balloon Man) for a taste of fame – a tiny rush of power and a chance at prosperity.

Yet all that we seek here in the west, fame, fortune, power over others – those things that have become hallmarks of being “special,” actually take us away from the true experience of life and those things that are actually precious. It is no accident that Christ said, “It’s easier to fit a camel through the eye of a needle than a rich man into the kingdom of heaven.” And what he meant was: the more one looks outward for reward (through riches, power, fame) the further one gets from their connection to God/Great Intelligence as they fall into a bubble of narcissistic power tripping that others are all to happy to indulge due to their own ego driven narcissistic tendencies.

Take for example the recent example of Andrew Young’s book The Politician which exemplifies this idea. From Young’s interview (I haven’t read the book yet) he seemed to lack insight and of course this was and is to his benefit. He sold his soul to be close to power. John Edwards may have been his devil, but Young was surely Faust, and his attempt to purge his conscious and clear his name lacked the same insight. He didn’t seem to understand the position Elizabeth Edwards was put in, or have much compassion for her – a woman who was diagnosed with cancer and had her husband lie and cheat on her. I suppose this was because his ego was bruised from his participation in her injury and the fact that she took out her anger on him in her desire to believe her husband. I’m not saying she was perfect or that she didn’t have issues. But it’s clear that she was a typical woman, she’d been in love and married to the same man (faithfully) for 30 years. Gone through the loss of a child with this man, supported his dreams and sublimated her own desires for his. Young mentioned that they had an “odd” relationship, that Elizabeth was more like a mother than anything else to John.

Well, this is often the case when both partners are in love with the same person – in other words she was in love with a narcissist, but I’d hate to give narcissists such a bad name, I think we can go several steps farther and say this man was more likely a non-violent sociopath (they do exist – an excellent book on the topic is called The Sociopath Next Door). John Edwards not only lacked empathy, he was pathological in his lack of care for those he “loved.” His crazed narcissistic high was so great he was willing to throw everyone,  under the bus, including his dying wife, his best friends, his mistress and the whole of the Democratic Party for his own selfish ambition. Let’s face it if the dude had gotten the nomination and his affair and love child came out then, well, hey we’d have 8 years with Sarah Palin a heartbeat away from the red button. That to me proves he is at the darkest levels of selfishness besides his pathological lying, cheating and general douchbaggery.

Karma (part 2) new

Karma… ( part 1)

I received an interesting e-mail from Carol in Australia, she asked:

Hi Denise,

What are your views on Karma?  Do you think there is such a thing as ‘The Universal Law of Karma’ or do you think it is a man-made-up concept?

The concept of karma is something I’ve thought about a lot. Perhaps too much, and from early childhood when I thought I’d invented the idea and told my mother about it, she informed me it was already a religious idea in play called karma.

In physics Newton’s 3rd law of motion is expression: To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction (here’s a link to the 3 basic Newtonian laws: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_laws_of_motion)

I believe that karma works in much the same way as this law of physics. It is not a judgment from God and/or directly related to anything divine. If something bad happens it could be bad karma being created which calls for a reaction or it maybe a reaction from some previous action. There is no way to know or judge. If someone does something good the same is true. It’s just energy calling for a reaction. I believe this rule or law of the universe exists to keep balance.

However westerners often have a distorted view of karma because they see the idea through the Judea/Christian lens.  Karma as most people view it is often distorted and inaccurate in my opinion because our notion of God is askew. To really understand (in my opinion) God/Goddess/Universe or the Divine is pretty much impossible. As a result we have anthropomorphized Him/Her to find a pathway into the incomprehensible. However the Divine is actually neither male nor female, nor is the Divine anything like what we have been trained to imagine it to be.

The further one gets into the depths of esoteric wisdom from all or any culture, the more one finds that the exoteric notion of God (sold to the commoners) when it gets deep into the esoteric understanding breaks down and becomes increasingly more vague, abstract, metaphoric and difficult to grasp. In the western esoteric tradition of Kabbalah (which was guarded for centuries and only relatively recently were women or married men able to learn it) the tree of life is broken down like this:
At the top is Kether. But what one can’t see (at least in this depiction) is the line between Kether and the rest of the tree.

Kether occupies a space beyond the veil of understanding, beyond anything we can know or understand in a sort of cosmic soup of oneness where there is no duality, no male and female, black and white, right or wrong.

It is actually the feminine side of the tree which triggered creation (and if one looks into the esoteric beliefs of Judea/Christians, it is the female side of God or the Goddess who brings the Universe into being.) Of course this idea pre-dates Judaism and perhaps is a carry over from all early religions when it was thought that the Great Goddess (name dependant on what part of the world looked at) gave birth to the Universe. The idea of a creator God is a modern notion that came about with the Jews. As the world went from nomadic and separate yet with equal places for men and women’s mysteries, to a patriarchal/agricultural way of life – where owning land (and women by extension as they were often associated with the Goddess/Mother Nature/or the Earth) led to dynasties and empires, the west transformed into a feudal society with a strict caste system of peasants and overlords which our American forefathers rallied against as they were merely land owners, most were not of royal blood.

History, spirituality, philosophy anything and everything, actually is filtered through the lens of the society that literally shapes our brains, our understanding of organization and our sense of self. It even shapes the form our government takes, the way we organize our home, how we feel about our bodies, sexuality, everything. Whether we are religious or not, the predominant paradigm shapes us whether we like it or not. Often people who claim to be atheists are really rejecting the Judea/Christian form of God. They in fact know nothing else and ironically in their rejection show a deep seated belief indoctrinated into them from childhood. I understand their feelings, yet, they are often shut down to anything spiritual due to their negative experience with Jehovah. Ironically, and as we know from history (hindsight is 20/20 as the saying goes) mistakes and philosophical cracks become obvious in retrospect.

Ghosts…

Here is something weird I’d like to share with everyone. I had a reaction to one of my preventative migraine medicines I was put on Verapamil. It’s a calcium channel blocker and also used for heart patients. Anyway I knew it was causing a psychic barrier but what’s a girl to do? I have debilitating migraines so I took it.

Since I have been off of the medication the strangest thing started happening to me. Besides it sounding like people were walking around in my living room all night long (kind of normal) I was being told all this information and shown all this stuff by ghosts (I guess) before I’d fall asleep the last two days. So I decided last night to write the stuff down and google it to see if any of it made sense. Here’s one stream of information as it was written down in the dark in my journal: David Morgan, murder took place in a home near a staircase (older style home), there was another man present who helped, blackmail (although I heard this word and wasn’t sure if it was black male or blackmail), wealthy serial killer. I saw other things and wrote those down like a yacht, that he was from another country, English wasn’t his first language and there was some connection to powerful people, prostitution and other stuff.

So tonight I googled David Morgan murder and got this link:http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2007/Jan-11-Thu-2007/news/11908851.html

It turns out there was a man arrested and arraigned on the day of my daughter’s birth (a year exactly from her birth date.) He was 71 when caught, and was linked to the murder of several other people besides the one he was on trial for.  I’m used to being accurate, but this was pretty nutty – to get the first and last name of the killer that he was wealthy and the blackmail thing along with other details all of which turned out to be exact, was sort of wiggy. The event and trial took place in Arizona. So it was completely off my radar. When I showed my husband the notes I had written down and the name etc, scrawled in the journal from last night and then showed him the article. He was like, “wow, that’s pretty wild.” That was that. I said don’t you think that’s pretty crazy? I mean to get the exact name and all those details? “I’m used to it,” he said in response. I never take these things for granted however. And no psychic is 100% accurate including me so it’s always a bit trippy when the details are so spot on and you get actual names especially both a first and last name. That is incredibly rare.

I was going to rail on about “Peasant insurance” originally until I had this happen. Peasant insurance is when you work for a company like Wells Fargo and they take out a million dollar life insurance policy on your life, then collect when you die, giving nothing to your family and of course they don’t pay for your funeral or medical costs. It’s just a way to make extra money off the death of employees. Pretty sick. I heard about it several years back on NPR but was under the misconception that it was rare. Unfortunately, it is not rare at all. My husband found a website that lists companies that do it and it’s crazy. Personally I was disgusted not just by the fact that companies would do this especially since it seems like a conflict of interest. They generally provide health insurance and control the level of stress in a person’s life by how much they make a person work and how much pressure they put on employees. Stress has been linked to every sort of disease, that’s a given but what if a company had toxic materials they exposed people to without their knowledge, they might have an idea that those people would be shorter lived than most. The diabolical applications are endless. Here’s a list of some of the companies. This is not public information as your corporation can take out insurance on you without your knowledge or consent. And what the hell is with the word “peasant” do these scumbags think they are better than everyone else because they have money? Really, it’s so disgusting on every level. Here’s the link:

http://deadpeasantinsurance.com/which-employers-bought-policies-on-the-lives-of-employees/#more-43

Hope all is well with everyone. BTW if you live in CA get your earthquake kits together. I think you have some time but do it soon as I have a feeling we are in for a big one in the next few years. I’ll let everyone know as I feel it getting closer. This past month I’ve been getting worried about it. I’m usually pretty far ahead of those things so as my anxiety builds I’ll blog about it.

May the Great Spirit protect all the good souls from the negativity that has descended on our world. I hope those who have caused all the suffering directly feel the pain they have caused and are no longer insulated from it as they have been. A rectification is in serious order here.  The meek (kind) have to start inheriting the earth, as promised.

Tomorrow I’m going to talk about the Mayan Calendar stuff. I have some new info on it.

Best wishes and many blessings to all you kind people,

Denise

From Hope and a Plan:

I have been thinking about string theory a lot in the past week and about physics and how electrons take every single path to get from a to b.  I wonder if that isnt a physics metaphor for how we are either taking every single path as humans or our incarnations are all happening at the same time.  And if so, are all of our multiple selves impacting karmically each other?  What if we personally create a butterfly effect across dimensions (life times) impacting not only all of life which is energy in the here and now but elsewhere?  I’d love to know your thoughts…  Thanks again for a terrific subject!

Hi Hope and a Plan,

I’m glad you brought up the idea of multiple selves across time and the idea that they are impacting one another. This is something I’ve thought about due to a series of dreams I had that I was a colonist on Mars. Strangely, I met another woman around the same period who was also having similar dreams. We were (and are) both Aquarians and when comparing our dreams found they were bizarely similar. The structures in the dream were nearly identical and the small number of colonists, all the details. It sort of freaked me out at the time and I didn’t know what it meant. In retrospect I think she was actually someone who I have a future karmic tie to and we met in this life for a brief period perhaps to set something up for that lifetime which was why we were both having these dreams around the time we met each other.

Since time is pliable and really an illusion I’ve wondered if our other selves could not only be living in different times but different time trajectories. Meaning histories that could have been and futures that will be if only certain things happen. Perhaps our decision to incarnate at a collective time/space is an attempt to rectify the past and the future, shaping for the better our personal and collective evolution.

I remember as a child being confused that certain things hadn’t been invented as I had assumed things worked in a certain way such as computerization. When I found out that people actually drew the pictures for animated films I was shocked. There were a lot of things invented in my lifetime that I assumed were already here when I was young which led me to believe I had lived in the future at a certain point and came back in time to this point. I think we incarnate in this way skipping backward and forward across time for various reasons. It isn’t linear as we are led to believe by traditional ideas of reincarnation.

I think you are right about the idea of a butterfly effect which is why we skip across time and incarnate in ancient Egypt and then as a colonist on Mars, as each life effects the whole more like a globe of energy being added to by our decisions and incarnations, then a point in space/time that moves in linear fashion.

Which leads to this next question from Wei:

Denise, Could Zoma be your higher self?  Someone you were at one point?  Interesting that you found a historical reference, must have been quite a person.  I worry about channeling because of the intentions of the spirit coming through, but as long as you know what you’re doing.  It’s an interesting subject and I have no doubt channeling is real.

Hi Wei,

I have wondered that myself and actually thought it was my higher self until I found the ancient Jewish mystic and philosopher who bore that name. And then I wondered the same thing, perhaps he’s me from another life? I don’t know. When Zoma first came to me the feeling was very extraterrestrial and Zoma actually called itself “we.” It appeared as a collective group of souls or so I felt at the time. And it had a similar vibe to my experiences with Enochian energy.

But I was also more afraid of my psychic ability then and it had a dark side (probably due to my turbulent childhood). As I’ve matured my ability has become earthed more in my personality and my body which has been an interesting experience and hard to really explain. Instead of going out of my body to get information I now go inward and trace things through lines and trails usually through my heart chakra. And actually at the end of a reading I feel this overwhelming unconditional love for the person I read for due to this method.

My ability feels completely integrated unlike when I was younger. My new experiences with Zoma feel more like he is a part of myself. Even his tone and energy seem like a spiritually evolved human and not like some freaky extraterrestrial Enochian angelic force. This makes me believe that Zoma is a part of me which is why I was really the only person who could channel it/him when I was younger.

I do believe we all have a Zoma though, some part of ourselves (aka the higher self) that knows pretty much everything, is omniscient and one with God/Goddess/Universe. I have no idea why some people can access this and others can not, but I think it probably has something to do with our path in life and how we set this life up. Some of us really don’t need to be in touch with that part of our-self because our life lessons are grounded very much in the material plane. Just like I’m athletically (severly) challenged (and I mean that literally) some people are cut off from their intuition. I have one friend from high school who told me she never had so much as a Deja Vu’ or any  kind of intuition or any experience with feeling the presence of God/Goddess or really any kind of remotely psychic experience. And I know this to be true because I took a trip with her in the 1980s to New York and she didn’t even get a bad feeling when we walked through Times Square. She was totally clueless to the creepy, leering energy there, it was odd as if she had not even any primitive animal instinct for danger. For some reason she chose to be blind in this way for this lifetime perhaps to concentrate on other things. She’s a brilliant person and artist, but has not one iota of intuition. Just like I have not one iota of athletic talent.

I can only suppose we design our life time to fit our lessons and take the tools we need to fulfill our purpose leaving behind things that would distract us. The problem for most people though is they undervalue or devalue their gifts and spend far too much time lamenting what they feel they are lacking. I think this is one of the hardest lessons of all. We each admire others for the things we feel are missing from ourselves and dismiss what we are meant to give. It’s not an easy lesson. I’m only beginning to come to terms with these issues myself.

Many blessings to all,

Denise

Haplotypes and Irony

I’m in the process of getting back my DNA information. I swabbed my brother as he’s the only one in our family who has both patrilineal and matrilineal coding in his genes. As it turns out on my father’s side (I knew was Ashkenazi Jewish, his father came from Lithuania) but I’m still not sure about his mother who was also Jewish, but her family had been in the states much longer. Ironically I belong to the R1A1 haplotype on that side of the family which is also the same line Hitler thought was the “master race.” R1A1 also turns out to be the haplotype for the group of people who settled for awhile in India (arians) and then went up north and became known as the Vikings.

When I first went to look at the results of the haplotype it talked of this descent, having come through India and then going far north. I thought this was in reference to my mother’s side, but then when I went back to find that information it was replaced with information about being Ashkanazi-Levite. I wondered if someone in the lab had a small fit after realizing that I might be sensitive to the whole Arian thing being an Ashkanzi Jew. But anyway I thought this was very odd. So it would seem there is some strange similarity perhaps even shared ancestory between those who became the Arians/Vikings and the Levites who settled in Eastern Europe although for some reason I have seen no information linking the two which leads me to believe either there is fear about linking both due to the Holocaust or I’m completely making wild leaps of association which is possible since I’m still figuring out how haplogtypes work and what they mean.

Not only is this whole thing historically ironic, but personally so as I am a believer in Jung’s idea of ancestrial memory. I’ve had dreams (which I knew where not my past lives) of being questioned by the Nazi’s and taken by them. Also I’ve had so many dreams about India (although I’m sure this is also due to many past lives there) ever since early childhood throughout today.

Another weird thing is my father on his death bed claimed to have a conversation with Moses. Ironically the Levites are a direct link to Moses. He would be my super great uncle basically.

I personally think memory is stored not just in the mind but in the DNA which is how certain traits get passed down like musical ability, etc. And why certain strange mutations suddenly occur. We not only have to deal with our own personal karma, and trajectory, but it seems that the family of origin’s trajectory and karma is sealed inside our DNA, the ramifications of this are like waves in our subconscious.

Best wishes to all and many blessings,

Denise

Personality Disorders & More…

This seems to be a very hot topic, perhaps one we can all relate to and one that strikes a deep emotional chord. Someone mentioned that calling people who run the gamut from NPD to Anti-Social Personality Disorder uncompassionate is too harsh. I’m only stating a scientific fact. Research has indicated that people with Anti-Social Personality Disorder or those labeled Sociopathic actually only show lower limbic brain activities in response to emotional situations. Tests indicate they are literally not able to have higher functioning feelings such as love, compassion, empathy, etc. There appears to be an organic part to these diseases either non-development of certain types of bonding causes the inability to physically happen in the first few years of life or some people may just have this type of brain, this is where science is unsure.

But just because some people are unable to be compassionate doesn’t mean we should be compassion-less toward them. I am not advocating anything except whatever breaking point a person gets to in dealing with people with these problems should not be judged as everyone has a certain tolerance. And as Chris points out in her interesting post somethings are just forces of nature which we can not control and there is no point in taking it personally. In fact it may have nothing at all to do with us just as the tide moving in has nothing to do with our desire or karma.

It is admirable to take responsibility for the self and necessary for our growth however there are things in life which we are not responsible for and can not change. This perhaps is the lesson. We are not all powerful Gods. We are part of God but we do not control the Universe (Thank God for that, huh!) With so many agendas and so many issues and so many various lessons we sometimes get tangled up in other people’s issues and must learn to separate. It’s OK to not take responsibility for things we have no control over like our health, our family member’s insanity or the death of a loved one. This was my point about New Age philosophy, it often takes very complicated issues and dynamics and boils them down to a catch phrase and black and white thinking. The reason the esoteric side of things was kept secret for the seeker only to know was exactly because information is powerful and misinformation is dangerous. Before we can manifest perfect health and happiness through visualization there maybe 40 years of psychological therapy needed to undo damage done in childhood, or there maybe genetic factors that make it impossible for us to be 100% physically well. We can do our part by taking care of ourselves but we can’t stop old age, disease or death through wishing it away. Chaos and decay are just as important to the balance of nature as love and harmony are, this is not something anyone would say in a get rich quick medicine show New Age book that you would ever read. It’s not what people want to hear. We want to believe we are all powerful and can fix anything we want. But we often can not and there is nothing shameful or wrong with that it is part of the process of life to understand we all must go with the flow of energy we are swimming in.

I talked to one woman today who was having some health problems and was very embarrassed about them. She kept saying she could take care of it with her diet and blaming her health problems on herself. But the truth is she’s almost 50 years old and her body is going to have some trouble as it ages. I actually had to stop her and tell her that it wasn’t her fault and all she could do was go to the doctor and take good care of herself. That the sooner she did this the better chance she had of avoiding complications. She told me she had avoided going to a doctor for awhile because she was afraid to hear that something  might be wrong. This is a common problem as if not knowing will make it go away. This sort of wish fulfillment thinking (which is very New Age – this woman is also a New Age practitioner) is akin to visualizing winning the lottery and then flogging yourself when you got the numbers wrong. It isn’t very grounded and I think it is a left over from the child’s desire to blame everything on the self in order to feel in control.

Some great books on Personality Disorders are:
The Sociopath Next Door

The Wizard of Oz and Other Narcissists: Coping with the One-Way Relationship in Work, Love, and Family

Understanding the Borderline Mother: Helping Her Children Transcend the Intense, Unpredictable and Volatile Relationship

I Hate You, Don’t Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality

Desk Reference to the Diagnostic Criteria From DSM-IV-TR

I found Understanding the Borderline Mother to be one of the best books on personality disorders I have ever read. It gives a very clear delineation of the disorder and how it manifests differently in different people. BPD is a very complex disorder that often has many other psychological disturbances that can muddy the water. People with BPD can often have addiction problems, have eating disorders, bipolar disorder and a host of other problems making people who have to deal with a parent with BPD feel very confused about what exactly the problem is with the parent. This book is much more helpful than I Hate You Don’t Leave Me, which is probably more suited to someone with the disorder and not for someone seeking advice on how to deal with someone with this disorder. I also think the DSM can be invaluable for understanding the basic psychological issues people have, not that one should go diagnosing anyone after reading the DSM. It just gives a sense of the spectrum of disorders and how complicated yet alike we as  human beings are. The Sociopath Next Door seems to be out of print but I found it to be fascinating as the author relays the spectrum of that disorder through various anecdotal stories.

I saw that one reader (Christopher) was caring for a mentally ill mother and had a mentally ill brother. I would highly suggest reading some of these books, they really will help you to feel not so alone and give you ideas on how to set better boundaries and ultimately (I hope for your sake) they inspire you to seek help outside your family. You really shouldn’t be dealing with all of that by yourself it can be extremely damaging to your self-esteem and to your life’s purpose as people with personality disorders characteristically derail others in an attempt to get more “narcissistic supply” or what normal people would call attention. They are like psychic vampires that deplete you entirely without a thought to your needs, health, spirit or purpose for being here. Do yourself a favor Christopher and don’t take on all that burden without at least some help.

Many blessings,

Denise

Personality Disorders & More…

Insanity, Neglect & The New Age

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to blog. Does anyone out there have a nutball in the family? I mean like an alcoholic, or a narcissist or someone with borderline personality disorder? It’s not very fun dealing with them. Not easy. They have a tendency to absorb all your time and energy by creating drama and making everyone in the family feel bad while turning themselves into a martyr. I’m sure most of you can relate. We all have someone who we have to deal with who fits this general description. I’m pretty sure that part of what fine tunes psychic ability is growing up with a crazy parent. It’s a heightened form of instinct, self-preservation. What will crazy do today? Be nice or kick me out of the house?

Every psychic I’ve ever known came from a seriously messed up family. I suppose being psychic is the consolation prize for dealing with insanity during childhood. Personally I would have prefered a normal family to “the gift.” But then we don’t get to choose sometimes, or perhaps I did choose before I could remember (on the other side).

Which brings me to a few points I’d like to make about how western people have assimilated the notion of Karma and Darma. We seem to have used it as a substitute for the old fashioned “God is punishing me,” or “I must be doing something right,” ideas. It’s become a New Age way of blaming the victim. I’m not sure if anyone saw the Oprah show about the girl who was so neglected that she was still in a diaper and weighed 30 pounds at the age of 6. She couldn’t feed herself, had lice and cockroach bites all over her and slept on a mildewed piece of foam. She couldn’t walk or talk and was still being fed from a bottle. She was cognitively still a baby from the severe neglect. Her name was Danielle and when her mother was asked in an interview about the girl she said, “All I’m guilty of is, is not keeping a clean house.” Then she started crying and said, “I love that baby.” And then when the interviewer asked the woman if she regretted anything (this was after the mother had been informed of the severe retardation she had caused the girl due to her neglect) she answered, “Moving to Florida.” Because Florida authorities were the ones who busted her and took Danielle away from her. This woman went out drinking constantly, left her child in the care of her two mentally retarded brothers and said to authorities, “I’m doing the best that I can.”

I was very disturbed by this story for so many reasons. The little girl was permanently damaged by this neglect. Although she was adopted by some kind people, her life was stolen by her sick mother. Children who suffer neglect feel invisible and those who suffer from any and all abuse feel its their own fault. This is a defense mechanisim. It’s actually easier to (as a child) believe you are the problem than your parent is, because you are completely dependant on them and the only thing you have control over is yourself, therefore if you’re a bad kid then you can change your behavior and magically your sick parent will become kind and loving. Of course this isn’t true but it is the fantasy all abused and neglected children have about their sick parent or sick parents.

Stay with me here I want to tie this mentality to many New Age beliefs. Louis L. Hay wrote a book in the late 1980s that broke down each illness and told you what was emotionally causing it, like you have back troubles, you are feeling unsupported. While I can see the value in how certain types of stress contribute to our physical problems, sometimes its really not our fault and we do not have control no matter how much we wish we did. Sometimes a person gets back trouble because they get hit by a drunk driver, or they fall down the stairs. Or they have a genetic disease. I have trouble with many of the New Age beliefs that don’t allow for chaos and the dark side of human nature. Many New Age beliefs hinge on a love and light philosophy where everything is decided by our souls before we incarnate and there are no victims and all is for the good of our development. Bull shit.

Pure and simple bull shit. There are people who throw monkey wrenches into our plans, there are people who do not live up to their side of a bargain and there are children born to psychopaths who treat them like potted plants and who steal their development and life away. How can this sort of serious abuse and neglect of a child be anything but the fault of the crazy person who could do that to a child and still believe they “love,” them. Why would any soul choose to incarnate into a situation like what Danielle had to suffer and what could she possibly have learned from it? She will spend the rest of her life with the cognitive skills of an 18 month old and when her foster parents die, she’ll end up in an institution. Does anyone deserve that? And if they do then why would Danielle have been rescued and what gives that mother the right to be so cruel?

The tangle of moral questions are too great to be answered with simple New Age platitudes or really any spiritual ideas because these are depraved acts done in the service of the darkest sides of their nature without thought or care of anyone but themselves. These people operate in the darkness of the unconsccious playing out their shadow selves while being completely unaware and unable to experience love or empathy. This mother clearly had some sort of personality disorder. She was completely unable to have empathy for anyone, even her own child.

Which leads to the question of what causes this incredible lack of empathy among people with certain personality disorders? Is it chemical, genetic or enviornmental or do they bring into this life some sort of spiritual lack that makes them incapable of caring for anyone else. These people often have deep feelings for themselves and see themselves as victims with elaborate justifications for their actions. They can turn their own evil deed into the passing stranger’s fault in a split second. They live like Plato’s cave people, in an eternal darkness projecting their emotional troubles onto others without ever seeing themselves or how they are hurting others. They never take responsibility or say they are sorry for anything as they see themselves as godlike, above all others, their emotions being the only ones that count. These are the people that bring chaos to our world, who cause wars, who are destroyers. They balance those among us who go out of our way to help others. They are the entropy to our growth. There must be a purpose for them, but I still haven’t figured out what it is yet.

Many blessing to all you kind and good people,

Denise
